Give the Girl a Break

I don’t want to write another sad song, I just want to fly away

I don’t want to stay in the cold too long, I just want a sunny day

I need a break from feeling so low, I am weary from the weight of it all

There’s got to be a place I can go,  there’s got to be a place I can fall

 Stop the clock and hold the phone

Give the girl a break

Just leave well enough alone

if only for today

Up a lazy river, down a salt creek

you’ll find me gazing at the clouds

resting in the shade, catching up on some sleep

mind you don’t approach me too loud

I’m gonna close my eyes for a while

and dream about whatever I please

and spend a little time in denial

and let my worries go with the breeze

 
Friends are calling on the phone sayin’ life is passing by

Wish they’d just leave me alone but they’re not gonna let me slide

so I thought I’d do a cup of joe and smoke myself some tea

I hoped that it would help me go, but it wasn’t meant to be

Everybody’s sayin’ get up on your feet

girl now quit that layin down

but everybody’s crazy, I just want some peace

I’m gonna take the long way around

I’m feeling like I’ll follow the sound

of a rabbit and a cat in a tree

I hope it takes me deep under ground ‘

and drops me in a boat on the sea..
